What the rule requires

A Spanish shop's invoices have to come from software that has declared conformity with the Verifactu rules. Whether an e-commerce app can lawfully be that issuing system, or whether the role sits with the merchant's accounting software, is still an open question that a Spanish tax adviser has to answer per setup.

Who it binds: Businesses established in Spain that issue invoices, B2B and B2C, corporate taxpayers from 1 January 2027 and the self-employed from 1 July 2027. Invoicing software must chain records, carry a QR code and either report to the tax agency in real time or keep a verifiable log.
