General Product Safety Regulation
Manufacturer and responsible-person details on every non-food product listing.

Every product page for a physical non-food item needs a block of safety and traceability information that most stores never held in structured form. The work is mostly data: collecting manufacturer and responsible-person details per product and rendering them on the listing.
- Legal basis
- Regulation (EU) 2023/988
- Who it binds
- Anyone selling non-food consumer products to customers in the EU, including sellers outside the EU, from 13 December 2024. Online listings must show the manufacturer's name, address and electronic contact, the EU responsible person where the manufacturer is outside the EU, product identification, and any warnings or safety information.
- Who is exempt
- Food, feed, medicines, medical devices, plants and animals, and products covered by their own safety regime such as toys and cosmetics are covered by those rules instead, though the listing-information duty still applies broadly. Second-hand goods sold as antiques or for repair are outside scope.
- Penalty
- Set nationally. Germany's Produktsicherheitsgesetz allows fines up to €100,000; marketplaces can delist non-compliant offers. Enforcement against small online sellers has so far been quiet.
